Considering Switching from 15 Years of Oral Fin to Fin/Min Spray for Safety Concerns

Hello all,

It’s my first post here though I’ve read quite a bit the past year or so and had a question that hopefully someone who has done this exact switch before can answer to. I’ve been on oral fin since 2010 and haven’t had libido effects, but i worry about being on it for 15 years will eventually make it possibly inert due to the length. I went to my derm and got a fin/min spray because i also have been seeing studies come out that oral fin can cause depression and I’d like to get off of it if possible.

I also got a dermastamp and am prepared for the coming shed, but i wanted to get some opinions here on if i should just keep doing both or if its sensible to ween off oral and exclusively use spray for effectiveness and loss of any potential sides for fin (libido is fine but it’s hard to tell if my depression started 15 years ago since that was never even mentioned as a possible side until recently). Appreciate any and all help and maybe even other recommendations outside of this strategy.

always consult with a doctor before changing the dose of any medicine. but in general it is better to lower the dosage a bit if you believe that you are experiencing sides for both topical and oral, though I don’t think you experience any side effects but if that is what you think you may lower the dose slightly but keep in mind your hair may slightly be put under a strain in that case too, everything has a trade-off in life. By the way for making a switch, the oral fin is better to topical fin in my belief, but topical fin can be great nevertheless especially when combined with topical min in a compounded form like that of 2 in 1 (fin+min) sprays. If depression goes away on topical then yeah you may go that route. Ultimately, it depends and that I would advise you to consult with a dermatologist for that matter.

this is not a medical advice, just general information
