7 Months on Fin + Min + 1 Month Microneedling

I’ve been following the usual hair loss stack and wanted to share my journey for advice and maybe some encouragement.

Medications: Been on Finasteride (1mg oral daily)

and Minoxidil (topical, once at night) for the last 7 months. I’m very consistent with Fin, but I apply Min around 6 times a week before going to bed (usually skip once).

Initial Phase: First 6 months i had less shedding but didn’t see much regrowth. Still stuck it out.

Bloodwork: Got labs done 3 months ago and found I had Vitamin D3 and B12 deficiencies. Been on supplements since then.

Microneedling: Started 1mm weekly microneedling about a month ago.

Current Status: Over the last month, I’ve started

shedding a lot. Hair is falling from the crown and even the sides a lot, which wasn’t the case earlier. I’m honestly starting to lose confidence and feel discouraged.

Family history: My dad is bald, so I know genetics aren’t in my favor.

I’m trying to stay patient, but this new wave of shedding has me worried - is this another shed from microneedling? Or a sign things aren’t working?

Would appreciate any insights, similar experiences, or suggestions.

shedding with microneedling is fairly common because it signals the start of a new hair growth cycle. your regimen is solid, so try to stay consistent. it can take up to a year for significant results. keep an eye on your nutrition and supplement intake as you’ve had deficiencies that could impact your hair. check out The Beginner’s Guide for more info on your regimen. your photos show some thinning at the crown, which is common for AGA, so just give it time.
