I’ve (27M) been a diffuse thinner since I was 16. For a while it seemed like it stabilized until about 21-22 I noticed it worsening. Then around 23 was when my corners recession became more apparent. I had done topical minoxidil for about 1.5 years at this point with no discernible difference - but maybe better than it would have been? Who knows. I tried oral fin but I was getting intense testicular pain so then they moved me to topical finasteride that had zero side effects. I am very active, eat very well. I take pride in fitness/health.
At this point, this is about 11 months of a topical blend of finasteride (0.3%), minoxidil (7%), ketoconazole (2.2%), and biotin (0.2%). I saw a dermatologist and they recommended I start oral finasteride despite the previously mentioned side effect I had, in which I agreed to try again. So now I am about two weeks into oral fin (1mg) and minox (2.5mg). I don’t know if it was placebo but I again started to feel some testicular discomfort but not nearly to the affect it was the first time I felt it. But it has since been very mild and mostly none at all. The dermatologist said if I had any testicular pain to tell him and we’ll go on spironolactone - which Im hesitant to start out of fear of gyno.
My major concern is; is this salvagable? Is my hair too thin all over to make a hair transplant even possible? I understand I may go through another shedding process from the start of new medication. Should I shave? Any advice would be helpful.
