I only have recession in my temples and my hairline seems to have gone back slightly. Went to two derms and they one said fin wasn’t necessary and the other who was a very expensive and a top doc said that she wouldn’t prescribe me fin even though I kind of pushed for it because I was 23 and she said that she wasnt even sure it was AGA as it looked mild. She diagnosed me with me TE as well even though I have zero diffuse thinning on my top or crown or anywhere else except for the temples. They both pretty much prescribed me the same things, the regular vitamins shit biotin and shit, and the main thing was Minoxidil on my hairline. But I have heard that minoxidil doesnt work for the hairline and temples, so am I just risking shedding and possibly even a worse hairline than I started with. I am at a lost because I found the top derm and this is what she said and refused to start me on fin. My father has a full head of hair and no one in my family has had hair loss or recession before their 30s. Even though its probably irrelevant all of my cousins on my mothers side have full heads of hair, as I have no male cousins on my dads side. I am at lost because on the one hand I wanna trust a doc who has seen thousands of these cases but on the other hand how tf did she diagnose me with TE when it looks clearly like temple only recession. She also diagnosed me with AGA but said she wasnt sure. But anyways the main question is am I risking and wasting time applying minoxidl to my hairline and temples?
min can help at the hairline and temples but it’s generally more effective on the crown. It’s worth trying since fin wasn’t recommended. Give it at least 6 months to see if it works for you. Early shedding can happen with min but is usually temporary. Check out The Beginner’s Guide for more info on min and watch for progress.
Hey henry thank you for your answer brother. I guess it won’t hurt to try on the temples so I’ll keep doing it but I still don’t understand why the doctors wouldn’t prescribe me fin.The TE diagnoses sounds like bullshit to me. Do you think sometimes we should take our own initiative and just get on fin ourselves or keep trying to find a doc that will prescribe it to me. I mean what could make more sense than starting something that will fix the root issue at the first sings of something irreversible? But again I am not a doctor. waitign 6 months without fin seems scary…
