So I had a big shed in March. Idk what happened, but by the beginning of 4/1 (pic), I had visible thinning on the crown and hairline. So I buzzed it to see what was going on right after taking that pic. My buzzed hair at 4/1 and 4/12 were similar and I looked pretty sparse. I got pretty anxious and switched to Dutasteride. Then, in the past week or two, I started noticing my hair looking thicker and more like before. The pic all the way on the right is today and it’s wet while the other two are not. Even my hairline seemed to be filling in a bit. Did I switch to dutasteride for no reason? I like to think I didn’t, because I had never seen this much scalp or my hairline looking like this before and it seemed like I was clearing progressing in my balding. Do you think it’s growth or regrowth from maybe TE?
You probably had a telogen effluvium on top of early male pattern baldness. The shed made the thinning worse temporarily, but dutasteride may have stopped the AGA from progressing and helped with regrowth. The thickening now is likely both recovery from TE and some miniaturized hairs improving. If the crown and hairline were hit, AGA is almost definitely part of it. Staying on dut is smart if you want to keep what you’ve got
