It’s been nearly 2 months since I’ve gotten a hair transplant (age: late 30s) and I just started taking 2.5 mg oral minoxidil and 1 mg oral finasteride.
Obviously my intent is to have the least amount of side effects possible, and though I have been researching, it’s tough to find a conclusive answer. I understand that its going to vary person by person for the most part, but I’m hoping I can get a more concrete answer.
I really haven’t found any good info on sublingually taking Oral Minoxidil. From the info I did gather, the preferred way is to take the topically solution sublingually, and if I was to take the pill sublingually, cutting to dosage to around 1 my seems to be preferred.
And from what I gathered about Finasteride, taking 1 mg sublingually seems to be fine and possibly preferred over swallowing the pill. But like I mentioned, haven’t ran into anything concrete.
Hoping that you guys can give me the best details possible about the pros and cons of taking these medications sublingually. I appreciate any and all advice.
Thanks in advance.

you need to visit a proper dermatologist, I have NEVER heard of sublingual oral minoxidil. Keep in mind when sublingual is referred in hair loss communities it is typically used for topical minoxidil not oral minoxidil tablets (eg. loniten). If you experience no side effects and recommended by a proper doctor (not like the ones I encountered but someone knowledgible) then for the sake of god please go with oral minoxidil 2.5mg+oral finasteride 1mg. This is a solid combination for battling AGA. Type II steroid-5-alpha-reductase production is inhibited via finasteride 1mg (which is the main driver of AGA) and hair follicles are stimulated through widening of blood vessels (through LDOM, 2.5mg). Maybe add nizoral 1% available OTC for scalp health and you are good to go.
you do NOT need dutasteride 0.5mg or 5mg minoxidil usually if you respond well to treatment above. on a side note steer away from ru58841 or similar anti-androgens for AGA treatment if possible at all costs (even if a doctor tells you it is OK), if dutasteride or 5mg minoxidil cannot solve your problem it is unlikely that it would and you may end up harming yourself. I personally do NOT recommend microneedling, dermarolling/dermastamping etc. as they are skin-invasive though if a doctor recommends than you may go that route of dermarolling/dermastamping.
you can find my current stack in my previous posts if you wonder, yes i take dutasteride 0.5mg (avodart) every day but I had early onset of AGA at just 17 and am an aggressive diffuse thinner. I do NOT think most people need dutasteride at all. If it was not for the early onset of AGA, I would have gone with finasteride instead of dutasteride as it does not block Type I steroid-5-alpha-reductase which is typically of use to central nervous system (eg. allopregnanolone).
Or in other terms: Do what a proper derm says and do NOT take oral tablets sublingually unless especially recommended to do it by him/her, that literally makes no fucking sense if you experience no side effects. Never heard of such a thing. With LDOM 2.5mg and Finasteride 1mg (I assume you take propecia pills) you are good to go. Maybe add a bit of biotin or some other hair-enhancing supplements eg. vit D or zinc supplements (these won’t do much against balding but may thicken and improve your pre-existing hair and please take these supplements with a doctor checking it and with a blood test, you do NOT want to get over-dosed.). Dutasteride/5mg oral minoxidil is likely not needed, though consult with a proper trichologist/dermatologist on precisely this matter if you have questions on that regard as he/she will likely inform you better than I can.
