So I have been on dutasteride (oral) taken every other day and minoxidil every night topical for a while now 3+ yrs and just last year the shedding got under control and I felt like I was recovering some ground and just recent I realized I had been using expired minoxidil for a month (the minoxidil was only a month expired and I was using for the months of may I noticed some more shedding than usual) so I ordered a new batch this time equate foam different from the usual Kirkland I’ve been using the past time they r both foam but since switching I’ve been experiencing a nasty sheds been about 3 weeks on equate brand is this another dread shed? I notice on the equate brand my hair feels matted together which wasn’t the case w Kirkland is there a difference in formula that could cause this? Can someone explain what’s happening and should I be worried? 1st pic is my hair in June this year And 2nd is this month 3rd pic is how much I shed every time I apply minoxidil and I can keep getting more if I tried 4th is top density the top of my head is becoming more visible 5th is from may 9 this year Granted my hair is shorter but I haven’t shed this much ever what’s happening? Is it time for a transplant?
looks like the shedding could be a result of switching min brands. min can cause a shedding phase when you start or switch it up. the new Equate formula might feel different, but it still should work if it’s got the same concentration of min. keep an eye on it and give it some time. if you suspect dermatitis, try ketoconazole shampoo and maybe cbd with mct oil to help the scalp. usually takes a few months to see things calm down. check out the beginner’s guide if you need more insights.
