(Vent) Going to the doctor after 2 years of hair shedding (also body)

26M
I finally made an appointment with my PCP about what’s been going on.

My shedding came out of nowhere. I’ve never seen a hair on my hand in my entire life no matter the length it was. Along with scalp shedding, I was losing eyebrows, eyelashes, arm + legs hairs, and armpit. It’s occurred to me that I need to finally get checked. Density hasn’t changed a whole lot, yet, and neither has my hairline. It was never perfect, but it’s been the same for as long as I can remember.

Note, I also realized my skin started getting greasy around the same time. I used to have really dry skin.

Wish me luck, and any insight would be extremely helpful!

Good call on seeing your doctor. Widespread hair loss isn’t male pattern baldness. Could be something systemic, hormonal imbalance, autoimmune issues (like alopecia areata or lupus), thyroid dysfunction, or even a reaction to meds/stress. The greasy skin shift points to possible hormonal changes, maybe androgens ramping up. Get full blood work done, thyroid panel, testosterone, DHT, ferritin, vitamin D, and any autoimmune markers your doc suggests. Don’t let them brush it off as “just stress” without real tests. Hope you get answers.
