That’s it i’m starting oral Minoxidil

So.. i’m a 32 year old, fit caucasian man from europe. Been diffuse thinning for a while now and i tried everything. Oral minoxidil sadly gave me heart palpitations and anxiety through its effect on allopregnanolone (and i am normally a super chill person). Sadly i had to quit that and i went the topical dutasteride route.. this was a big mistake, it worked for a while but gave me the same sides that lasted for 1,5 months.. and i cannot tell you how horrible it is to have 4 massive heart palpitations every minute…

So..why did i start oral min? I found that topical minoxidil helped a lot in the beginning so i respond good to it. Plus i have cats so want to not have to be so cautious anymore with petting them.

I read into the possible sides of oral minoxidil and i figured that they are quite reasonable at a low dose.

I started today with a daily dose of 0.625mg while continuing twice topical 5%. Will do this for two months to see if i tolerate everything well. I have a blood pressure tracker, have a garmin 970 that checks my resting heart rate and HRV, plus it can do ECG’s(simple ones i know but still). I am checking my weight to see if nothing changes and i am not experiencing edema.

After two months i will up the dose to once daily 1.25mg and will drop one application of topical min.

Will document my changes here. Pictures are from exiting the shower and i will keep the after shower pictures as the indicator if any change is visible

Oral min can be strong and cause systemic side effects like palpitations. Starting low is good to monitor tolerance. Keep using topical min if it doesn’t bother you, as it’s less likely to cause issues. Stay observant with your monitoring tools, and keep updating with photos to track progress. If oral min causes too many problems, sticking to topical might be safer.
