Taking fin for 2 years, should I swap to dut?

Disclaimer: I have not been consistent with any routine for more than 6 months. I have been taking finasteride for around 2 years with a few months gap in between. For 6 months I was taking fin 1mg and applying minoxidil topically at least once a day (it made my hair super greasy). I saw no growth.

I have recently started being consistent again, I would say that I have been on finasteride 1mg daily for about 3 months. As far as I’m aware, fin only keeps what hair you have and doesn’t help with hair growth as such. I experience no side effects of fin. Would swapping to dutasteride help this growth? Or will I need to start minoxidil again?

My main issue is my right temple, it is very thin and noticeably less dense than my left. I feel quite unconfident when looking at it, but I know that the effort and time it takes to correct that (a routine I’d need to follow for LIFE) might make me more unhappy. I figure it might be worth another try though.

Switching to dut can help since it blocks more DHT than fin, and you might see better results, especially if the temples are thinning. Restarting minoxidil could help too, maybe foam or oral to avoid greasiness. It’s about consistent use, you’ll need to give it some time though.
