23yo male. got on finasteride around October of 2024, so been on it for ~21 months. After the initial shed, I noticed my hair got much better. Strengthened hairline, thicker all around, etc. However, upon getting a buzzcut this past April, I noticed as it grew back, it grew back thinner and the hairline was beginning to miniaturize once again. I also noticed my hairline had receded a bit more. It looks to me like my balding genes/DHT sensitivity has already just become too much for the Finasteride. However, is it possible it’s another shed? It seemed to happen really fast, and if I responded to treatment well initially, why would it get worse so quickly? Pictures included below
It’s possible you’re experiencing another shedding phase after buzzing your hair. Fin usually maintains effectiveness, so a temporary shed could be making miniaturization more noticeable. Keep up the treatment and monitor the situation.
