Still losing on 0.5mg dut and 2.5 mg oral minox

Hey everyone,

Looking for some advice on what to do next.

I’ve been dealing with hair loss since i was 19 (currently 23). I took 0.5mg of finasteride daily for two years, but eventually made the switch to 0.5 mg of dutasteride, which I’ve now been on for one year as of today. In addition to that, I’ve been taking 2.5 mg of oral minoxidil daily since March of 2024.

I still have strong density, but have noticed significant recession along my temples, now roughly a NW3. The recession progressed under finasteride as well. I’m currently wondering if I should up my dutastide dosage to 1mg, or just keep my current routine.

I’ve considered switching back to finasteride, but considering the fact that I was still receding while taking it, I don’t think it would ultimately the best decision.

Any insight is appreciated, thanks!

Since you’ve been on 0.5 mg of dut and 2.5 mg oral min for a while, and you’re still seeing recession, you might try upping your dut dosage to 1 mg if you’re comfortable with it. It may help with stronger DHT inhibition, but keep an eye on possible side effects. You probably don’t need to switch back to fin since you didn’t see much difference. Stick with your current min for now as it aids with hair density and growth.
