Should I switch from fin to dut? (21 y/o diffuse thinner)
Looking for some advice on this
Timeline:
Topical minoxidil: Sep 2022 (age 18) → Jan 2024
Switched to oral minoxidil in Jan 2024
Started finasteride in May 2024
Fin has definitely slowed my hair loss, and I’ve seen a bit of hairline regrowth (hairline wasn’t an issue to begin with). However, I still feel like I’m losing overall density, and my crown/vertex is very noticeable in sunlight.
I’m 21 now, a diffuse thinner, no real hairline recession just loss of volume across the scalp. Can send pics in DMs.
Given this, does it make sense to switch to dutasteride, or should I stay on fin longer?
1) send a picture but blur your face (eg eyes, nose etc.) but not your facial hair. facial hair growth is dependent upon DHT, so we may draw although hasty some conclusions. 2) be ready to go bald if nothing else works. 3)Yes dut is way better than fin, but losing hair on fin is not good. A 25-40 year old with hair loss can hop on fin, anything younger to dutasteride, though under strict supervision of a doctor, this is what I believe. More aggressive your loss is, more aggressive the stack has to be IMHO. But this is not necessarily true 1-1. It depends far more upon the activity of srd5a1 etc. but this is like a very, very rough measurement. Diffuse thinning to me also sounds more aggressive, I have no fucking idea but diffusers seem to be more aggressive man. I am on dut for context.Yes I know fin can and does work, but when dut is available I would choose it and had done it. So consider dut under the supervision of a doctor. Again fin vs. dut primarily is about srd5a1 but for some reason my gut feeling tells me hey dut is better than fin for young hair loss, so that is why I mentioned it. It is unscientific but I don’t care, I mention it anyways here on it being unscientific and a gut feeling so not deceiving you.
