I am currently using Sons 5 percent minoxidil spray, but I found a minoxidil cream online that might be easier to apply and massage into the scalp. I am also hoping it would be less greasy and possibly better value if it lasts longer.
Has anyone used the Hair Repair Clinic 5% minoxidil cream? Is it easier to apply than minoxidil serum and does it feel less greasy?
The ingredients are as follows. The active ingredient is minoxidil at 5 percent, 10 percent or 15 percent, with optional tretinoin at 0.01 percent. The base contains isopropyl myristate, petrolatum, propylene glycol, mineral oil, acetyl alcohol, beeswax and BHT.
min cream can feel less greasy and might be easier to massage in. some find creams less drying due to added emollients. optional tret can enhance penetration but may irritate a bit. give it a try, but monitor your scalp’s reaction.
Avoid all compound medicines, stick with what is known. Yes this is a medical advice, because FDA does NOT fucking approve compounding medicines as they are not standard off-the-shelf medicines and they even state it explicitly on their site. Please use something that is widely known and approved for use. Kirkland, Rogaine, these 2 work in general and available in US. Kirkland is a bit cheaper. Don’t know how the situation in UK. Also tretinoin is something that should be applied before the minoxidil, as a thin layer on the scalp for upregulation of follicular SULT1A1 activity in order to A) boost transformation of minoxidil → minoxidil sulfate (active form of minoxidil that keeps KATP channels open) B) enhance the absorption of topical minoxidil, but if you are sensitive to minoxidil, especially to its oral variants, you have to be a bit careful using tretinoin+minoxidil. Acetyl alcohol, beeswax, isopropyl myristate, mineral oil, acetyl alcohol, beeswax and BHT, I don’t think they would significantly improve anything and these are NOT standard ingredients used in minoxidil albeit I am no chemist so in theory they may or may not help, I don’t know what their effects would be in that regard. Also topical solutions are better than creams in my opinion as they 1) dry fast 2) don’t stick to hair and 3) more of minoxidil reaches the follicles, though empirically both seems efficient at a similar level.
