What should I do?
Had a hair transplant in December 2025 and have been taking 1 mg finasteride orally every other day since then.
Overall, my hair keeps improving, but I still occasionally notice a few hairs on my pillow or after showering. Nothing excessive, just individual hairs here and there.
Recently, I went down the hair-loss rabbit hole and added topical minoxidil. I also got a prescription for topical finasteride and have dutasteride at home, although I’m not currently using it.
Now I’m wondering if I’m overcomplicating things and potentially combining too many treatments without a clear reason.
My goal is actually to use the minimum effective treatment and only increase if necessary. I’m also not sure whether some of the things I’m feeling are actual side effects or just normal aging and overthinking.
My current routine:
-
1 mg oral finasteride every other day
-
Topical minoxidil daily
-
Topical finasteride available but not really using it consistently
-
Dutasteride available but not using it
My questions:
-
What would you consider a reasonable long-term stack after a hair transplant?
-
If hair is still improving, would you change anything?
-
Would you keep topical minoxidil or switch to oral minoxidil?
-
If you were in my position, would you simplify the routine instead of adding more treatments?
-
How do you personally tell the difference between real finasteride side effects and simply getting older or overthinking things?
Interested in hearing from people who have been stable on finasteride for years after a transplant.
Thanks!
