Been dealing with hair loss for about 6 years now (classic Norwood pattern), and I also have seborrheic dermatitis.
Current treatment:
Dutasteride 0.5 mg ED for ~1 year
Oral minoxidil 5 mg ED for ~6 months
Issue is I’m still regressing, especially at the temples and crown. Hair is getting visibly thinner in a diffuse pattern. I was hoping at least for stabilization, but it feels like I’m losing ground.
Minoxidil is definitely doing something (better eyelashes, beard, body hair), but I’m not seeing any noticeable improvement on my scalp.
The pictures I’m attaching are self-assessment shots of my hairline from September up until today.
At this point I’m wondering:
Do I try adding finasteride?
Increase dutasteride dosage?
Or is this a sign I should reassess everything (including seb derm impact)?
Has anyone here had continued loss on dut + oral min? What did you do next—stick it out, tweak doses, or pivot completely?
You’re on dut and oral min, which can help but check if your seb derm is affecting results. Try ketoconazole for that. More dut isn’t usually better, but adding fin won’t help since dut already blocks more DHT. Maybe give your routine some more time and address the seb derm effectively too.
idk either, “better” regarding hair growth is complex (doubly with side effect considerations), and not as simple as nuke more dht, but see this thread:
