Rate My Routine: Oral Minoxidil 2.5mg daily, Topical Dutasteride (0.5ml, 1mg/ml) 2x weekly + DermaPen M8S 0.75mm, 18 pin 1x weekly, ketoconazole 2% shampoo 2x a week

Hi All.

Just turned 28 and I’m seeing signs of balding starting, my hairline receded very slightly from the top and more so on the sides, and the hair at the front of my hairline is looking slightly sparser as well as hair near the back of my head near my spiral.

For people who use oral minoxidil, does it find its way to the scalp and does microneedling have any affect on oral minoxidil’s efficacy?

I’m also about to start topical dutasteride as the microneedling should help it get into the scalp but the molecular weight of dutasteride (528 daltons) should prevent it from passing further into the blood stream/going systemic and hopefully avoid side effects.

Also, I got my derma pen from MTPSkinTech and my topical dutasteride (Propelyne Glycol free) from MinoxidilMax. Are these trustable?

Oral minoxidil works systemically, so microneedling doesn’t affect its absorption on the scalp. Microneedling can enhance topical dutasteride absorption. Your products are known in the community, just make sure to research them further. Check out the tressless product finder for more options.
