I just wanted to share my progress and get some insights from the community. I’m 28 (M), Asian, and I’ve been working on improving my hair since January 2024. Here’s what I’ve been doing so far:
• Minoxidil Topical Solution 5%: Started in January 2024.
• Finasteride: Started in July 2024.
• Derma Stamp: Used on and off last year (0.5–0.75mm). Now using a 1.25mm derma stamp once a week.
• Castor Oil: Applying to the ends of my hair for 20 minutes, twice a week.
• Biotin Shampoo and Conditioner: Using regularly to wash my hair.
I’ve noticed some progress, but I’m still feeling a bit self-conscious. My bald area is still visible, and there’s a noticeable difference between the longer strands and the shorter ones. Some strands are around 0.5 inches, while a few have grown to about 3 inches.
I’d love your thoughts on a few things: 1. Is this growth rate normal? Most strands seem to be growing around 0.5 inches, with a few outliers at 3 inches. 2. How long does it typically take for most of the strands to reach a length of 3–4 inches? 3. Should I consider a hair transplant or any other procedure to speed things up?
I’ve seen some progress, but the pace feels slow, and the uneven growth is making me second-guess my approach.
Would love to hear your experiences and advice. Thanks in advance!
Did you see notable changes in density ,hair line ? Usually before you see any thinning or hair line moves backwards, you find abnormal shedding , unhealthy hair look , falling excessively thinner hair, when you do a pull test, its seeing on your clothes bed, in the other side, when your scalp isn’t oily and dry and pull test negative , don’t see thinning abnormal hair around your, probably after 30 to 50 days you see considerable hair density thickness improvement , keeping medication until you on fin , minoxidil, probably you aren’t gone to be bald , if you’re hair regrowth continuous or in the maintenance you should keep your protocol until you aren’t want to be bald , if shedding is not stopping, you should try dutastride , mor minoxidil concentration and finally you need to try topical antiandrogen to compliment your treatment
Your routine looks solid, and the growth rate you’re seeing sounds normal, with some strands growing faster due to different phases in the hair cycle. Uneven lengths are typical early on, but with consistent care, most should catch up in around a year. It’s worth sticking with your treatments for at least a year before considering a hair transplant since you’re already seeing progress. Transplants can help if things plateau later, but it takes time for everything to even out.
