"Progress" pictures. Should I just give up?

Description

These pictures are from when I was 33 in Dec 2019 until present day, age 37. Sorry I couldn’t find the pictures I had from 2022 and 2023.

I started seeing thinning at my hairline when I was 31. It didn’t become really “noticeable” to anyone else until I was 33. Not sure if it matters or not but I have always gotten the same haircut. 1 on the top and straight edge the sides.

The pictures from Dec. 2019 to January 2021 I was taking 1mg of Finasteride daily and Minoxidil solution. From October 2023 until present I have been taking 1mg Finasteride daily and 1.25mg oral Minoxidil daily. However, in February and March 2024 I actually was taking the “SuperCapsule” from Happy Head but it definitely was not worth the money in my opinion.

I literally have seen 0 progress. I honestly didn’t actually think about it until recently. I thought to myself “why am I paying for medications that I am seeing zero results?”. Should I continue taking them? I’ve obviously had no progress but I also haven’t really gotten worse I don’t think? So one concern of mine is if I do stop, am I going to see rapid hair loss.

What do you guys think? Is there any other route I should/could try out? Whether that be different medications, different doses of the same medicine, etc.

First off, give my write up a read

consider a scalp biopsy to see if your hair loss is also something else.

Next, get on oral dutasteride. Perhaps consider topical or oral minoxidil. Give this a long term shot between 2-3 years. Sometimes all we can do is maintain.

I am already taking oral minoxidil. Any suggestions on where to get prescribed oral dutasteride online?

Go to a doctor. Online stuff runs the risks of fakes. If you’re in the United States of America, consider telehealth companies like Struthealth or Musely. You could even use a service like Sesame health to find a doctor virtually and get a Dutasteride prescription and then have them send it to a pharmacy that has deals with GoodRx (for the coupon discount code).

Hair transplant is the solution. Most ppl just maintain on meds

My suggestion: go to a dermatologist and get a higher dose of oral Minoxidil and ask about changing from Finasteride to Dutasteride. In my case, I’m taking 5mg of Minoxidil (two 2.5mg tablets) and a 0.5mg Dutasteride capsule. You still have enough hair to get progress. Good luck!

BTW, if you get a prescription for Dutasteride, you can get them for free from Amazon Pharmacy if you join their RxPass program.
