The first picture is wet from about 1 week ago, and the second is dry, taken today. I’d like to start with some context. I’m a 24 year old man, and I’ve been worried about losing my hair. My family has a history of male pattern baldness. I apply Minoxidil, topically and ONLY on the hairline (when I started it about a week ago, it didn’t seem like I had much hair loss at the apex so I didn’t apply it there). I also started supplementing Creatine daily, beginning that near the same time, and Iron for Anemia. I have recession at the hairline as well, but honestly that seems to be slightly improving. Skip to today, when this picture was taken. Damn. It’s been like a week on both the creatine and the minoxidil, now it seems like I’ve just accelerated hair loss. I have a first date next weekend on the 4th of July, and I’m second guessing whether or not I even want to go. What happened? I’ve heard creatine can potentially elevate DHT levels but, from what I understand, the theory isn’t well backed by research. I also know Minoxidil can cause shedding, but I thought that was only to targeted areas, and it was normally supposed to start later than this. As I said, I haven’t applied any to the apex of my scalp. Should I start doing that? Should I stop creatine as well? I don’t know what to do, but the second picture alone is making me lose confidence. I can’t imagine what it looks like in the sun as of right now.
Nah dude. Creatine is NOT increasing DHT levels. This myth has gone on long enough. You eat meat/animals don’t you? Look at how much you eat a week and realize how much creatine you’ve already been consuming (it was already likely at supplement levels and food is more bioavailable then supplementation on average).
You’re just shedding.
i would…
- Oral Dut 0.5mg
- LDOM 2.5-5mg
- Ciclopirox Shampoo 1% twice a week
consider it and talk to your doctor

I looked up LDOM and realized it was just low dose oral minoxidil, so I deleted the original response where I ask if I should stop using the topical. I appreciate the info, thank you for taking the time to respond!
