Hey everyone,
I started noticing a reduction in hair density around February 2026. I started finasteride 1mg daily and 5% Regaine foam once daily in May 2026.
The first photo is from December 30, 2025, before I noticed the density loss. I already had an M-shaped hairline at that point, but my main concern was the density behind the hairline rather than the shape of my hairline.
I’ve included photos from different points between December and now, including April and August. In the more recent photos, I’m noticing what appears to be less density around the front compared with April. I’m not sure whether this is an actual change in density or simply a difference in hair length, styling, lighting, or photography.
I haven’t experienced a noticeable or dramatic shed since starting treatment.
Based on the photos and the timeline, what objective factors should I look at to determine whether there has actually been a change in density, and is 4 months generally too early to assess the effectiveness of finasteride/minoxidil?
I’m mainly looking for an evidence-based interpretation rather than personal anecdotes.
Thanks.
