Hello, my name is Juan. I live in France. My father has been almost bald for as long as I have memories of him, and I would like to know I did everything in my power to keep my hair as I like it a lot. If I can’t succeed it won’t be a big problem, but I will try to keep it for as long as I can.
I’ve started using topical minoxidil in March 2024 after I consulted a dermatologist that indeed told me I prolly had “alopécie androgénétique” and got prescribed Alopexy 5%. I do 12 shots once per day as advised by my dermatologist. I got mild shading the first months, but no notable improvement of baldness in my gulfs and maybe I have lost a bit more hair in the gulf area.
So I decided to use the website charles.co to quickly have a dermatologist appointment and have him give me a prescription for finasteride. I bought today the finasteride through them, it’s like 30% more expensive than if I had done it the classic way, but whatever. Money isn’t a problem right now and I just wanted to have quick answers and prescriptions. They easily have an order system to deliver it to my place so that’s cool. So I will be receiving the finasteride, I don’t know which brand exactly but I’ll update again next week with more precise info and start using it.
I also bought more topical minoxidil 5% and a keratin supplement that’s supposed to make me have better skin and hair. We’ll see. I’m a bit sceptic about supplements but I’ll give it a try for a while anyway.
I will use this as a hair photo progress / regress journal and also as a emotions / secondary effects journal if any. I’ll try to come back here once a month at least to update everything. I also use a mood tracker called “How We Feel” that I have been using for many months now for tracking my mood and emotional well being, I use as well Withings watch and scale to track my heart rate, sleep, weight and fitness. I will be dumping all these info here as well as photos of my hair in the mission of battling hair loss. I’ve seen about the finasteride secondary effects, I doesn’t really worry me since I know I have a strong as hell libido so I’m guessing I have a bold margin for not worrying about it. What scares me a bit is the ball/penis ache, less sperm in ejaculation, and the concentration issues some have reported, if I get any of those I will probably be stopping finasteride.
Anyways I’ll start by posting the photos I took back in March 2024 the day I started using Alopexy 5% in another comment below, and then updated photos I did last month.
