MAKE SURE YOUR MINOXIDIL ISN'T FAKE BEFORE YOU BUY: Found out I've been using fake minoxidil for like 5 months

I found out I’ve been using fake minoxidil for pretty much this whole time since January and right now it’s May 1. I started shedding in like February and I thought it was cause like “oh you know, everybody has a shedding phase” So I kept looking up people who had shedding phases after seven months so I was like “OK my hair is gonna regrow back and stuff like that, it’s just a shedding phase” but since February my hair has been thinner than it was.

And it never started going back to how it was supposed to be, and I just thought “oh just stay patient stay patient". Then I’m doing some scrolling on Reddit today and also this website, and I see people talking about how having bought fake minoxidil affected them and stuff like that. So I go to check the minoxidil I bought from Amazon that I’ve been using and I see that the one that I’ve been using their are reviews on the seller’s page saying it was fake. It also had alot bunch of one star reviews saying fake and this and that. I bought it from Amazon and didnt check reviews because I thought that minoxidil is just always legit. I never thought like people would actually make fake minoxidil.

Then I start seeing people talking about how fake minoxidil doesn’t leave a white residue after applying like normal minoxidil does, so then I start to realize that I stopped seeing the white residue that I always had on my corners when I applied minoxidil and I’m like “wow this is true. I really have been using fake minoxidil this whole time”.

So an hour ago I decided to switch to equane brand because I can just buy it from Walmart and be sure that it is legit and not fake.

Overall, this kind of disappointed me because I’ve been using minoxidil since last June and I started using it consistently until like December. Everything was going well but after January and beginning February like all of a sudden, I’m like “OK what is going on” and then my hair was not looking the way it was. So now I think my progress has reset, right? I’m not sure if that’s how it works. I’m just glad I’ve learned my lesson about fake minoxidil and stuff like that, but learning about it a year later is kind of disappointing, but I hope anybody who reads this. Make sure that they always buy legit minoxidil and don’t just trust anybody that you see.

Hey man that really sucks. Be proud of yourself for being consistent with using it that long. At least consistency isn’t the issue. Chalk it up to a lesson learned and move on. If you can, see a dermatologist and ask for Rx minoxidil. It’s a one/dakliky pill. My insurance covers it otherwise it’s really cheap at Costco. I get both my minoxidil and finasteride($15 for 3 months) if you are against a pill you can also get Kirkland brand topical for roughly $17 for a 3 or 6 month supply. Great reviews and results. Make sure you do some research as they also have a topical foam it’s pricy I think around $60.

Hope this is helpful. Consistency is key and you’ve already shown you’ve got that. :+1::+1:

Stay the course. I’m 52 and not giving up yet. I feel like I’m 20… with hair I pass as 35. lol so it’s a fight to the death. lol.
