Description

1mg oral fin - prescription pill - daily - taking this as soon as I wake up
5% topical min - foam - applying twice a day, after waking up and before bed at night
2% ketoconazole shampoo - gonna try using it once a week, not sure how often to use it, dermatologist said my scalp looked healthy
microneedling - dr.pen m8s - just got it, will try it use it once a week

Noticed receding corners at age 18 but it didn’t get this bad until about age 22. Has gotten significantly worse the last year which prompted me to start this hair loss journey. Any advice and tips would be greatly appreciated!

Week 1 progress, decided to just take pictures of the two corners that are receding.

got a buzz cut so it would be easier to apply min and microneedle

Got another buzz and it looked like some progress was made. Can definitely see the new hairs in the corners of my head now. Under dimly lit lights, my hairline even looks straight now!

Thats amazing. no transplant?

Nope just doing the routine I wrote at the beginning, 1mg oral fin once daily, 5% topical min twice daily, and microneedling once a week. If the new hair stays and doesn’t shed I wont have to get a hair transplant!

Hair has grown back a bit and I was curious whether the progress from before was exaggerated because of the buzz cut so I decided to take pictures before and after a haircut.

I was skeptical whether the new vellus hairs near the corners of my hairline were actually growing before but from these pictures it looks like they are.

I’ve also noticed that the receding area looks a lot more full after I microneedle and I’m beginning to think that the minoxidil efficacy is greater in the few days after microneedling but I have no proof so I’ll take some before and after pictures in the following weeks and steadily increase the frequency of microneedling days. Currently I only microneedle once every 7-10 days in the mornings for 10 minutes with a needle depth of 1mm. I’ll continue doing this going forward but add in a 0.5mm microneedle day every 3-4 days. I do not apply minoxidil at all on the days I microneedle but I think I’ll apply it on the 0.5mm days.

Careful on microneedling long term, good results tho
