Losing hair. Don’t know why and what to do

I’m 25 years old and for the past four years since 2022 I’ve been slowly but steadily losing hair. My hair has thinned significantly on the top of my scalp, I have noticeable widow peaks (though I can still cover them for now), and the most disturbing part is a visible bald spot at the crown that continues to spread. Literally nobody in my family was balding - on contrary my mom, dad and grandma and notoriously thick hair and so had I before 2022.

I’ve tried shampoos, vitamins and scalp massages. They seem to help slightly to the point where I notice small improvements but the progress always seems to reverse randomly and it goes back to hair loss again. I had the blood tests done as well and everything appeared normal, especially the B vitamins and testosterone.

Honestly I’m losing hope. Is there anything I can do to reverse this naturally? Perhaps a specific type of shampoo, oil or massage technique? I’m very hesitant to try minoxidil or finasteride due to the reported side effects and the fact that the hair fall out once you stop using them. I’d appreciate any comment and advice.

VERY IMPORTANT NOTE is that I started losing hair after I got covid in 2022, I can’t think of it as coincidence.

Considering your post-COVID timing, it could be telogen effluvium. TE is when stress causes hair to shed, usually resolving over time. Shampoos and vitamins might give slight support but won’t address TE or AGA. Min and fin work differently; min is like fertilizer for hair growth, fin blocks DHT but talk to a doc about concerns. If you’re wary of side effects, maybe look into topical solutions. Give treatments time, like up to a year. If you need a starting point, check out The Beginner’s Guide.

Thank you for your comment.
Thought of TE too and researched about it - the receeding hair reverts back to normal in most cases within 3 to 6 months, but for me it has continued for over 4 years. It’s very unlikely to be genetics too since everyone from both my of parents side had full, thick head of hair. I consulted a doctor too but they only suggested minoxidil and sent me home. And thanks for the beginner’s guide as well. Will read into it.
