I have a dermapen, and I’m trying to microneedle some spots that are noticeably thinning out but still have hair. I was just wondering would the needle poking the existing hair cause more harm than good?
Microneedling over existing hair is generally fine, as long as you’re careful with needle depth and work gently. Make sure to sanitize everything well and use a needle length appropriate for the scalp, usually between 0.5 mm to 1.5 mm. This shouldn’t damage the existing hair but will help with treatment uptake and collagen production.
