Increased Shedding After 1 Month on 0.25 mg Finasteride Despite Initial Improvement

Before August 2024, I had a full head of thick hair. I’m not sure what changed, but after that, I began to notice gradual hair shedding. My frontal hairline receded a lot. Starting from December 2024, I began taking supplements like biotin, vitamin E, and vitamin D, but they didn’t make much of a difference. My overall hair density dropped to the point where my scalp became somewhat visible under light. I began taking 0.25 mg finasteride on June 29. It’s been a month now—initially, shedding reduced, but recently it has increased significantly. Today, when I combed my hair, I noticed a lot of hair fall. Most of them were thin and varied in size. What could this indicate?

the increased shedding after starting fin is common and can be part of the hair cycle readjusting. It’s called a shedding phase and might improve over the next few months. Keep using fin as prescribed, since it often takes several months to see real results. You can also check out The Beginner’s Guide for more details on fin use.
