How do I know if I'm really experiencing Finasteride side effects?

Hi,

I’ve been taking a 3-in-1 pill containing Finasteride, Minoxidil, and Biotin (1 mg, 1 mg, and 5 mg per day, respectively). About two months ago, I visited a dermatologist and was prescribed this pill along with Aminexil, Kopexil 5% (both topical), and Rinfoltil to improve my hair health.

At first, everything seemed fine. However, recently I’ve started feeling a bit off. It’s hard to describe exactly, but I sometimes(4 or 5 times a day) feel dizzy or ungrounded. And even I suddenly get blurry vision. A better way to put it might be that my head feels strangely light. Also, I’ve definitely noticed the absence of morning erections and no desire for sex.

I didn’t know what Finastride is, until now, when I’m feeling like this, and searched the internet for it. My family told me this could be psychological because I might’ve intensified something not that important into a serious problem by constantly thinking about it.

On the positive side, I think my hair has improved somewhat, but these side effects feel significant. I spoke with my dermatologist again, and they suggested tapering off the pill to see whether the symptoms improve. Their plan was to reduce it from once daily to once every other day, then three pills per week the following week, then one pill per week, and finally stop it completely.

My main question is, does this approach sound reasonable, or should I consider seeing another dermatologist for a second opinion?

I’m not sure whether the path I’m taking is the right one, so I wanted to know whether I’m doing something right or not. I really want to hear your thoughts on this.

The tapering approach sounds reasonable. If you notice improvement, it might be side effects from fin. If you’re uncertain, trying an alternative like topical fin might be an option if you want to continue treatment. Consider checking the product finder for other options or a second opinion if needed.
