How do I deal with extremely dry curly hair after topical minoxidil+finasteride application?

Hi guys, I have curly/wavy hair (a mix of 2B-3A). I’m 24 and started shedding a lot of hair recently. Consequently, I consulted with a Derma and was prescribed topical minoxidil and finasteride. I used to have long hair, but I cut them medium-short for better application. The application of serum requires me to constantly touch my hair multiple times during those 5 minutes twice a day. The problem is, the constant touching of my hair makes my hair look absolutely shit. It dries them off so much that it looks like I have applied no product whatsoever. I have tried this with long hair, short hair and with or without product and the result is the same. I consulted with the doc to switch to oral meds, but he insisted on me trying topical for 6 months and then making a decision. Did anyone had a similar experience and can guide me on how to style my hair if the application always makes them dry?

I have have similar 2c hair. I also use topical minoxidil and it is a very drying formulation. I love that it dries so fast and doesnt stay greasy on my head but it makes my hair bunch up together which makes the scalp for visible unless i basically make the hair lay over the each other perfectly to hide the gaps. But i cant say it looks the best and doesnt feel good on my hair either. Hair feels very straw like and very hard to style with my hands and anything without ripping hair off. Havent found any solution to this except to just switch formulations. Other less drying versions take a long time to dry and feels too greasy on my head too. And does all the sticking part too. The thing i do to not look clapped is to just shower or shampoo before going out

Man, that sounds tiring. But isn’t showering your head everyday not advisable?
The case with me is more or less the same. On one hand, I can either let go of my hair in a few years completely, or at the moment have hair which I absolutely hate. Everyday seems like a day where I have to look at the mirror at my horrible hair or a future with no hair. Thanks for sharing your struggles.
