How did you feel about HIMS?

Hi everyone,

Im starting my hair loss journey and wonder if the community has any thoughts on whether the provider you choose matters?

I signed up for HIMs but it just felt sketchy AF that they make recommendations based on responses to questionnaires alone, without any evaluation process? For more background—after answering ~30 questions, my report was apparently sent to a provider for review, then it was approved 5 mins later and I get a credit card charge for 5 months supply of oral Minoxidil and Finasteride. I’m not sure how providers can make such snap judgments about the prescriptions without taking a live virtual look, and notwithstanding the fact that patients may respond differently throughout their cycle and might need to adjust.

To clarify—I’m ok if this is just what happens in the industry. I wouldn’t want to dismiss it just because it seems a little rushed and over conclusive. If the medication is effective no matter where you go and in spite of how cursory the prescription process is, then it sounds like the evaluation process is less important than finding a place you can get the medication easily. Just reaching out for some thoughts here and would appreciate anyone willing to weigh in!

Hey, it’s pretty common for online services like these to rely on questionnaires for prescriptions. Both min and fin have a good track record for treating hair loss, and they’re pretty low risk for a lot of people. These platforms use algorithms or healthcare providers to review answers quickly because the meds work for most cases. If you’re worried about it, just keep track of how you’re responding to the meds and report any odd changes. It might feel a bit impersonal, but lots of folks find the convenience worth it.
