Help me save my crown for my wedding!

Hi everyone, I (32M) am getting married in a year and need advice on the best way to save my crown (and hairline ideally).

Attached are current pics and the topical solution I am currently taking.

Here is a summary of my journey: earlier this year in February, I noticed thinning in my crown and temples and went to a clinic. Did 4 months of PRP injections from February to May, and then since June I have only been using a topical 0.1% fin/7% min solution, once a day every night. Since starting both of these treatments, I have noticed a lot of shedding but recently it has sort of subsided (I think, hard to tell). I feel like the clinic wants to push PRP on me and I doubt its effectiveness, so I went to a dermatologist who seemed like a clueless moron and he gave me the 0.1% fin/7% min topical solution to “see how it goes”. So now I am turning to the wonderful world of Reddit for help.

As mentioned, I am getting married in one year and am willing to do anything and everything it takes to improve my situation.

Genetics: Mid. Dad’s side (grandpa and dad) has thinning in temples but mostly full crown. Mom’s side is cooked, all men go bald by mid-20s and my mom has experienced some thinning as well. I am clearly in between.

Topical or oral treatment: I started with topical because I am paranoid about systemic absorption and side effects, especially sexual side effects. But I am more than willing to try oral medication if it is better and the side effects aren’t nearly as bad as my anxiety tells me.

Cost sensitivity: None. I’m willing to spend any amount of money to fix.

Other: I am leaning to try Hims because of convenience and I couldn’t care less about cost. I am curious on people’s experiences with Hims and how well it has truly worked and if it is worth it, or if something else is better. I am also curious on topical versus oral suggestions. Do people do both oral and topical or is that overkill?

Thank you to all for your advice and guidance!

prp is generally not considered effective around here. you’re on the right track using min and fin. min boosts growth, and fin reduces DHT, but both take time to show results, up to a year. avoiding stress about side effects could help you, as anxiety might make them seem worse. you could explore oral min if you’re open to oral treatments but have concern over side effects from fin. consistency is key, and adding microneedling can enhance absorption of min. for understanding these options better, check out The Beginner’s Guide. stay consistent with your routine, and good luck with your preparations!
