Heavy Shed Since January: Considering Dutasteride vs Current Regimen of Finasteride & Topical Minoxidil

Experiencing a heavy shed from January this year. 1st pic from Nov 2023, 2nd from May 2025, the rest is from a while ago (July 2025). Hair fall slowed down a bit but the frontal area is almost non-existent now. What should be my next step? Wait it out or should I switch to dutasteride?

Previous regimen: Finasteride topical .1% - from February 2024 to January 2025 Not that responsive

Oral minoxidil 5mg tablet - From Aug 2023 to present but tapered to half dose Didnt see any regrowth

Current regimen: Finasteride 1mg everyday - From January 2025 to present - heavy shed

In addition to oral min, added topical min twice a day 5% solution

Since you’re seeing consistent shedding, it might be worth considering a switch to dutasteride, either oral or topical, since it can be more effective than fin. Keep in mind that shedding is normal and can take time to stabilize. Topical solutions generally have fewer side effects, so a topical dut regimen could be a good step.
