So i been on topical min for 4 months. On November 20th, I stopped using topical & transitioned to oral(2.5mg) daily. So in total it’s been around 6 months since I started (july 23).I just got back from the dermatologist, and apparently he said that what I was doing with topical was just to “maintain” what I have and oral is what could actually cause regrowth. I was under the impression they both caused regrowth.
I brought up finasteride, but he said to wait until 6 months of oral (until April) to reassess. He said that we wanted to see “which treatment was actually effective”. But to be honest ive already been on this journey since last summer and I dont want to keep waiting to potentially get my hair back, if fin will get my crown filled in quicker I’d rather do that. He did give me the option to get fin prescribed though. Should I wait to see what oral minox does, or just get started on fin now?
your crown in my belief is only salvagable through a hair transplant or dutasteride. this is not a medical advice but that crown cannot fully fill my man, that is not going to happen on its own, in my belief. it is known that finasteride can fill the lost hair by itself and sometime significantly but I doubt it would help you in that matter, sorry bro but I really would wish for you to get your crown back, I hope I am proven wrong.
NO. Fight the hair loss with all of your force, if the force that you use against balding (minoxidil for regrowth and finasteride for prevention of further deterioration of hair) does NOT cause any side effects. I repeat again, if you have no sides on oral minoxidil or oral finasteride, attack with ALL your force. All force means to attack with whatever you have that is safe and effective for you. Ignore what he says. This is NOT a time to see “oral minoxidil’s effectiveness”. It is your hair on the damn line. Do NOT let even the possibility of slightest miniaturization be a possibility. Minoxidil regrows, does not protect what you have. I had LOTS of experience with poor dermatologists, dumb dermatologists’ had caused me to lose a great portion of my hair. I do NOT want you face my fate, even though you have more hair loss than me. I do NOT want to see your crown get obliterated. I was denied finasteride and had to get it myself. So, find a new dermatologist that knows what causes balding in men how to stop. Find a proper new dermatologist, if you value your hair. This is not a time to wait, your crown is in a dire situation. Hurry up.
But, monitor your libido/emotional state and blood pressure, finasteride may negatively impact libido and (finasteride) could also induce anxiety. Oral minoxidil can cause problems in blood pressure. Oral minoxidil caused adverse effects for me, but statistically it is unlikely that it would happen to you.

Been thinking about the sexual sides of fin for a while. When i get it prescribed, I want to start taking Citrulline & kegel exercises. Is 0.5% an okay dose? On how many days should I take it?
%0.5 is high for finasteride. standard dose is like %0.1. though there is no standard in reality because topical finasteride is not FDA approved so stanadard here means much more something of “common”. For citrulline, I am not a doctor and have never heard of it. Ironically if you are worried about sides, you can consider hopping on the dutasteride 0.5mg (not without a doctor’s prescription/advice obviously) as dutasteride ironically seems to be devoid of the sides that fin gives to people, for some reason.
ps:this text is NOT a medical advice. see your doctor for that purpose.
