Experiencing Short Prickly Hairs After 15 Months on Finasteride

I’ve been taking finasteride for a year and three months, since last year. About six months into using it, I started noticing very short hairs growing on my scalp, like a beard. I’ve always had a buzz cut, but since I started growing my hair out a month ago, these hairs don’t grow like the rest of my hair and seem to stay the same length. When I wash my hair, I lose about 40 hairs, but they all seem to be short. For about eight months, I’ve been noticing these short hairs growing from my forehead to my crown. What could they be? It doesn’t seem like my hair density has decreased over time.

Those short, persistent hairs could be weaker, miniaturized hairs that are still cycling through shorter growth phases. Fin can induce a shedding phase, and these hairs might be older ones being replaced. If your density seems stable, it might just be part of your individual response. You can wait to see if they thicken up over time. Check out The Beginner’s Guide for more info.

I don’t see hair bulb there, didn’t you cut your hair recently? It could be leftover.
