36m ok so back in summer 2024 I noticed my widows peak thinning (felt like it came outta nowhere) also center part showing more and overall just less hair could start seeing my scalp alot more and when I grabbed it to put up in man bun thing i could feel just lesss and less thickness but no shedding .atleast not noticeable,.and to clear up my bun was never tight or pulling at all its just kinda up in a clip Ioose.
So went to dermatologist and got on propecia October 2024.1mg daily after a few months i started oral minoxidil with 1.25 then few weeks later 2.5 then to 5mg then ALL HELL BROKE LOOSE! soon as I went up to 5mg minoxidil my hair started shedding like crazyyyy.i called the dermatologist and she said thats the initial shedding that means its working and would stop in 2-4 months..it didnt..6 months in i couldnt take it anymore and weaned off slowly and the shedding slowed down but did NOT STOP..
Now its been about 8 months since then and its still shedding sooo much..the whole front of my head is completely thinned out.its horrible! I dont even want to leave the house. so im still on the propecia about 17 months now ..what the heck is going on?!?!?!? I never even had shedding before I started either of these medications. I dont expect the propecia to grow hair back but its suppose to stop the hairloss. how is it still getting soo much worse ? am I propecia non responder? did the minoxidil start somtin thats never gunna stop? please let me kno what you think
.Also I dont know if this is needed but about 5 months into propecia and at the very start of minoxidil my mother was in a accident and passed away .1 month later my 4 year old boxer had a freak accident and passed away. I went threw major stress trauma as my world was turned upside down I was fully dependant on my mother ..her passing was always my life worse case scenario we lost practically everything and living on very little now so the stress/trauma is still going strong every day. thnx for
Shedding after starting minoxidil is common; it’s part of the process. However, shedding that’s persisting might be due to stress-induced TE, especially given your recent stress. Min helps regrow hair but fin mainly helps maintain. Sometimes treatments just maintain hair and stopping can lose what you’ve maintained. Stress can impact effectiveness, so it might be contributing. Keep going with the treatment plan if possible since full results can take up to a year. Check out the beginner’s guide for more info.
