I’ve been taking oral dutasteride 0.5 and oral minoxidil 2.5mg for 6 months now and I am experiencing itchy scalp. There’s also what appears to be acne around my hairline.The itching gets pretty bad, and I’ve tried Nizoral and a few other types of anti-dandruff shampoos and have had no luck, which leads me to start believing I’m overdoing it. I’m not sure what I should do, and I don’t know which pill is causing the itchiness to occur. I’m thinking I should lay off minoxidil to see if the itchiness goes away and take only the dutasteride, and if that doesn’t work out, switching it. I’d go back to finasteride if I quit dut.
If you’re experiencing itching, try using ketoconazole shampoo regularly, and consider applying CBD with MCT oil for its calming effect. You could pause min for a while to see if the irritation decreases. If it’s not effective, evaluate whether switching to fin from dut improves things.
