Experiencing Hair Loss from Overwashing: Seeking Minoxidil Alternatives

Around May–June 2020, I started overwashing my hair and frequently switching shampoos and other products. About a year later, almost half of my hair was falling out, sometimes in clumps—this began abruptly after washing with three different shampoos in one day.
The hair loss slowed after using a hair loss shampoo for a month, but when I started switching products again and washing daily, the shedding returned. Washing more than once a day made my hair feel thinner within days.
I avoid using Minoxidil because I have pets. Could oral minoxidil be a safer alternative?
I’d love to hear from anyone who experienced hair thinning due to overwashing or frequent product changes. What routines or treatments helped you regrow your hair without Minoxidil?

overwashing can definitely mess with your scalp and hair balance. try scaling back on washes and keep to one gentle shampoo. since you’re avoiding topical min, oral min could be an option to consider. it can be more potent, but make sure to weigh the pros and cons. for scalp health, look into sulfate-free shampoos and consistent routines. maybe try ketoconazole shampoo or CBD with MCT oil to help with any scalp issues. check out The Beginner’s Guide for more on treatments.

Thank you for the response!
