Early hair thinning + deficiencies — already on fin + topical min — should I add oral minoxidil? M 26

Hey everyone,

I wanted to get some opinions on my current situation before I make any changes.

I’m around Norwood 2–3 (temples + some crown visibility under light). Hair is still fairly dense overall, but I can see thinning especially when hair is wet or parted.

I recently got blood work done and found multiple deficiencies:

Ferritin: 13

Vitamin B12: 120

Vitamin D3: 14

Transferrin saturation: ~15%

So clearly I had pretty significant deficiencies.

Current treatment:

Finasteride 1 mg daily

Topical minoxidil

Iron supplements

B12 injections

Vitamin D3 supplementation

I’ve just started correcting these deficiencies.

Now I’m wondering:

Should I add oral minoxidil, or is that overkill at this stage?

You’ve got a good regimen in place with fin and topical min, plus you’re addressing your deficiencies. Oral min can increase potency, but it can have more side effects. I’d suggest waiting a bit to see how well your current treatment and supplements work before adding oral min. Acne in the temple and crown areas is common with thinning, so watch your hair density as you continue treatment.
