Recently, my dermatologist gave me a prescription of taking finasteride 2.5 mg. I’m wondering if this will affect my height because I feel like I’m still in the middle of still growing currently(grown an inch in the past 3 months). And if you’re wondering, I’ve been balding since I was 13 and diagnosed with AGA recently.
indirectly through increased aromatisation, not really a problem if you don’t have high bodyfat. most height growth is done by 16 anyways, so not a massive concern. genital development is more directly impacted by fin
Is 2.5mg not too high for finasteride, I don’t think it will have any substantial effect beyond 1 to 1.25 miligrams, so maybe ask your derm. about it? Also sorry that you have to through the balding shit at such a young age of 13, from a 20 year old who began balding at 17 I wish that you stay strong against all odds ![]()
too high is meh, the gains from 1-2.5mg aren’t much different in terms of scalp dht suppression, side effects are worse though
Aga diagnose is an absolute joke young man. Focus on school fix your environment eat good and get going
This is something you should discuss with your dermatologist. Perhaps he/she needs to consult with another specialty (I’m guessing endocrinology?).
On another note, did your dermatologist explain why they put you on 2.5 mg? The studies we have indicate that there is no substantial gain beyond 1 mg. If one is dealing with a teenager that is aggressively balding to the extent that 1 mg of finasteride might not be enough, the typical course of action is to prescribe dutasteride.
