I have a lot of hair, I know. But it has also receded into a widows peak during the last 6 years (I am 22). I have been taking 1 mg of fin for 6 months now and minoxidil spray every evening. I am pretty okay with my hair as it is right now, but I am scared of it getting worse. It has not really changed since starting fin, perhaps a few more baby hairs. So I go to the doctor to get fin prescribed (got it online before) and he said that if I have balding genes I will go bald and that he won’t prescribe fin because of increased risk for prostate cancer (???). He said nothing about me not needing it, just that I have to accept that men lose hair and that the risk of prostate cancer is to high.
Added info: My dad has a similar hairline to mine and so does my mothers dad despite being old. So that should be a sign that it won’t get much worse (?). My dads dad however has very little hair. I really have not experienced any side effects so far and would not care if I did, and made this clear to the doctor.
Should I find a different doctor somehow? Or is he right?
