Continuous Shedding 4 Months into Minoxidil and Finasteride Treatment - Is This Normal?

I have been on oral 1.25mg finasteride daily since April 29th, and topical 5% minoxidil once a day since June 6th, and then switched to minoxidil twice a day earlier this month, namely September 12th. I have still been experiencing shedding, and after examining my hairline at the very front today after showering, it is ridiculously thin. Thinner than it’s been for a few weeks now, and I thought I was gaining ground by this point. Is this normal? My temples are perfectly in tact, and they’re reasonably thin for having just gotten out of the shedding phase. I also would like to add that it took maybe a month for my shedding phase to kick in. Is this all normal? Should I keep going?

Shedding when starting treatments like min is common and usually means the follicles are moving into a new growth phase. It’s frustrating, but it should improve as new hair begins to grow in. Keep going with the current routine, as it can take up to a year to see full results from treatments like fin and min. If the shedding continues for an extended period, you might want to check into it further. Stay the course for now.

that’s nice to hear, and I 100% am committed to min, but at 4 months in, people keep saying it’s abnormal to shed. is it true?
