Hey everyone,
I’m thinking about switching to oral finasteride + oral minoxidil and wanted feedback from people who’ve done a similar switch.
Background:
-
I previously used topical finasteride + topical minoxidil, but I didn’t get the results I was hoping for.
-
Considering starting finasteride 1mg/day and oral minoxidil 3mg/day.
Questions:
-
Is 1mg fin + 3mg oral min a common/solid combo in your experience?
-
If you switched from topical to oral, did you notice better results (or more side effects)?
-
How long should I commit before judging results?
-
Anything I should monitor or ask my doctor about before starting (labs, blood pressure, etc.)?
-
At what point does it make sense to consider a hair transplant—should I stabilize first, or can it be done while starting meds?
Any insight is appreciated.
a hard battle. you lost lots of ground to make a full recovery. a HT may be needed. oral minox is also something that fucked me with sides, but this is statistically unlikely to happen for you thankfully. get all bloodwork+ecg+blood pressure baseline measurements done. oral and topical is same and topical may be even better if you have sufficient follicular and liver sult1a1. most don’t, so oral is better for them if sides are not considered.
3-12 months for minoxidil and 12-24 months for finasteride in general.
never done this so cannot comment
Stabilize+squeeze as much regrowth as you can first, always.
Systolic-Diastolic Blood pressure / Heart Rate / ECG trio + Hormonal tests + All the bloodwork. Check for thyroid problems and vitamin D deficiencies if possible though unlikely, you are probably not young given that you had not mentioned your age.
I used 2.5mg oral minoxidil for over 50 days (not enough time to judge effectiveness) with no effect and am a user of dutasteride. So cannot comment however be careful with oral minoxidil especially going above 2.5mg. Not that it is inherently risky but I would keep a side eye.
answered them in random order, you can sort it yourself bye.
