Cancer took my hair 3 times. Trying to get it back!

Chemo took my hair 3 times. When it grew back it became really thin. Not to mention it was traumatizing lol. This is my progress with only 5% minoxidil, I’ve bought a needler and I used it last week. I’m not too sure how often and when to use it though.

When I was 24(2021) I had my first Chemo but before that I was a norwood 3 and a solid strong crown region, just 4 months after Chemo I was a norwood 4 ish with diffuse thinning on crown and midscalp, and those region never regrew.

Fast forward 2024
been on fin for a year and Topical Fin 0.1% + topical min 5% 1ml + an HT on Hairline alone still my Diffuse thinning on crown didn’t resolve fully but it got better like 50% with less scalp visibility

I’m 25 right now and my treatment was 5 years. I did have a full head of hair but it definitely thinned probably due to stress during the pandemic. I was finishing chemo and scared of covid lol. I feel like I see progress but idk, I definitely feel small hairs on my scalp now. What brand of topical Fin are you using? I’m scared of pill form because of the side effects.

There is a study where topical minox wasn’t helping after chemo but oral did. I can’t get into pubmed(for some reason) but the study I’m talking about definitely exists.

I just signed on to post an update to my hair. Thanks for the encouragement! I’m doing a lot better mentally and started going to the gym more often. I’ve seen improvements with the hims I’ve been on.

Update on my hair growth journey after getting pelted with chemo a few years ago. I started Hims back in April of 25" after being on minoxidil for a few months and not seeing any change. I started Hims because I saw it had a combo of minoxidil and finnasteride. I’ve been doing the daily topical spray since and last month I got a comment from family that really gave me a boost in confidence. It was from my cousin and about how my hair is growing in he said. My Aunt said the same thing. It really boosted my happiness. Right know I’m focusing on going to the gym more and trying to find a new job as well as improving my business.

keep the treatment but don’t expect a full recovery.

What do you mean? I heard that after chemo one can come back completely

wow! Looks a lot better, yeah?

Yes! I was happy to see it progress. I think I am also stressed so that will have to improve.

was it due to chemo, oh f*ck. that is my mistake. I didn’t read it. sorry, it can come back if that is due to chemo. but if due to AGA no.

No worries, I’ve spent most of my 20s being told I look older than I actually am and getting comments about my hair. Can’t say it isn’t hurtful. That’s what pushed me to try getting my hair back with meds. Just to try and look my age again. But yea it was due to chemo, my Dad has started to thin but he’s in his 60s. All my family seems to be blessed in that regard. I lost it 3 times, once I even lost it in one night. Honestly one of the most traumatic events in my life. Apologies for venting, I don’t get to tell others about this stuff.
