Aggressive hairloss after three years on fin

Desperate for advice.

Background: Ive been on finasteride for three years (from 24-27). No real side effects and the fin helped stop the progression of hairloss. I also did three prp sessions around January-April early 2025, with updated prp every six months since then. My hair was the best its ever been last year from around July to October. Since then i started to notice a slight increase in hairloss, the hairloss also slightly increased every month until around a couple months ago when it started to become very, very aggressive.

Actions taken so far: Booked a visit with a dermatologist who reinsured me any issues with my scalp was not the reason behind the sudden burst in hairloss. I also had my bloodwork done and i dont seem to have any problems with nutrients either

Status right now: Its constantly on my mind and seeing the amount of hair that falls off both inside and outside the shower is really stressfull. I dont really know what to do.

Is it possible its just an aggressive shedding phase caused by finasteride? has this happened to anyone else?

Ive been thinking about trying dutasteride but i live in a country where doctors wont prescribe dut for hairloss. Which leaves me the option of buying dut from a website, but atm i lack the trust in any website ive come across selling dut.

It’s possible you’re experiencing a shedding phase, which can happen occasionally even on fin. TE or changes in your hair cycle could be factors. Since PRP isn’t reliable for AGA, consider that it might not have helped much. If you’re thinking about dut, it’s stronger than fin, but finding a trustworthy source is crucial. Keep in mind that fin might still be maintaining what’s left, so stopping isn’t usually advisable without replacing it with another treatment. Check out The Beginner’s Guide for more info on options.
