Advice Needed: Considering Switch from Topical to Oral Finasteride After 2 Years (July 2023)

I have been following the following protocol for the last 2 years and would appreciate recommendations on what I should do next since I’m not seeing progress.

First pic: July 2023 Second and third pic: Aug 1, 2025

Primary:

• topical fin/min daily (except days I microneedle) from Keeps

• 1.5 mm microneedling every other week. I started with a dermaroller, but now use a derma stamp.

• Nizoral shampoo once a week

• I also started low dose (since there is min in my topical solution) oral min 0.5 g daily in Jan 2025

Secondary:

• 5000 mcg biotin per day

• 3000 mg collagen per day

• topical trentinoin (2-3 times per week)

• Caster oil and rosemary oil hair mask every other week

Switching from topical to oral fin could be a good option if you’re not seeing results. Oral fin tends to be more potent due to systemic absorption. Since you’re on oral min now, consider keeping that in place while assessing the switch to oral fin. Keep monitoring your progress and give any changes at least 6-12 months to show results.
