5 months into Topical Minoxidil, seem to be a non-responder, dermatologist refuses to prescribe oral?

“We don’t do that here” was what the dermatologist said when I asked her if I could do both oral Minoxidil and oral Finasteride. I just started the Finasteride less than a month ago.

She didn’t even prescribe Finasteride (even after going over the risks/sides and me explaining to her that I’m willing to risk it) until my 2nd appointment. I rescheduled sooner than my initial follow up because I was concerned my hair loss was only getting worse. And then before prescribing it, she demanded I get prostate labs done (I’m 26). It’s as if I’m inconveniencing them. I think they are being overly cautious (or have no knowledge treating hair loss) regarding the Minoxidil and I don’t really understand why. I have normal BP/heart rate. No family history of heart issues.

I have an appointment with my primary care doctor soon, should I bring up oral Minoxidil with them? I seriously doubt they will have much knowledge regarding it, but it can’t hurt I guess?

Yeah, bringing up oral min with your primary care doc could be useful, but be ready they might not know much about it yet. Oral min might be more effective than topical, but it does come with some possible side effects. You could also check out telehealth services listed on the tressless product finder to get more options. Keep in mind fin can take months to work, so patience is key.

Well, just be mindful to check your heart. I did a protocol here in this video

The next alternative, if you are in the USA, would be to go the telemed route.
