[33M] Should I proceed with MIN + DUT treatment?

I’m 33 years old. I went to the dermatologist because I felt like I was losing more hair this past year. I feel like I have less of it now, a receding hairline, a more visible scalp, and my hair starts higher on my forehead, although the back is fine and covered with a lot of hair. I know it’s not a very severe case, but it worries me. I also don’t know if this is normal as I get older.

She told me that if I want to regain my hair, she prescribed Minoxidil and recommended adding Dutasteride too, but I’m somewhat reluctant to take medications and don’t know whether to continue with the treatment or if I should go for only one of them. I’ve never taken care of my hair with specific products or treatments, I don’t eat a balanced diet, I don’t exercise, and I smoke.

I’m afraid of doing nothing and my baldness will worsen over time, but at the same time, I find it hard to commit to taking two medications a day long-term and I’m afraid of side effects.

What do you think? What do you recommend?

Thank you very much!

Oral or topical? There are versions of both for min and dut.

She prescribed both oral medications. Is it better to use them topically? Are there any differences beyond how you take them?

Whatever you do will have to be long term, but it can be safer to start with topical and see how you respond. There are min+fin and min+dut topicals, check the product finder.
