Hi everyone,
I’m 33 years old and I’ve mainly lost my temples (receding hairline) over the past 2 years. The rest of my hair still seems pretty good, and I’m trying to stop things before they progress further.
For the past month, I’ve been using Fincrezo (topical finasteride) on my temples, and I’m now wondering whether I should continue using the spray (and start applying it to my crown as well) or switch to oral finasteride instead.
The main reason I’m considering oral finasteride is that I have long hair, and applying the spray properly is quite difficult. I feel like a lot of the product ends up on my hair rather than reaching my scalp, especially on the vertex.
If I switch, I’m thinking about starting with either 0.25mg or 0.5mg daily instead of 1mg to avoid nocebo and sides. For those of you who have been in a similar situation, what would you recommend? Is it worth sticking with topical finasteride, or is oral generally the better option?
My biggest concern about switching to oral is the initial shedding phase. Since I have long hair, I’m really worried about suddenly losing a lot of hair because it would be much more noticeable. How common is shedding with oral finasteride? Is it usually mild or can it be quite significant?
Finally, I’d really appreciate your opinion on my vertex/crown. I’ve attached pictures, but the thing is I’ve never really looked at my crown before, so I honestly don’t know if it’s always looked like this or if I’m starting to thin there.

Does my crown look normal to you?

Or does it look like early vertex thinning?
I’d really appreciate any advice or personal experiences, especially from people who switched from topical to oral finasteride or who started with 0.25mg or 0.5mg.
Thanks!
