30M Experiencing Shedding After Restarting Min + Fin + Mesotherapy, Is It Too Late?

Hey everyone. I wanted to share my situation and get some opinions.

I’ll attach 3 photos:

  1. Hair dry, middle part

  2. Hair wet, middle part

  3. Hair wet, combed forward

In 2024 I did treatment for about 4–5 months. I was taking oral minoxidil 2.5mg daily, getting mesotherapy once a week, and PRP once a month. I had really noticeable improvement — on stage (I’m a musician) I could no longer see my scalp under the lights, and I felt much better about my appearance and confidence.

Unfortunately, I had to stop the treatment for financial reasons.

I was only able to restart in September this year. First, I started again with mesotherapy every 2 weeks. Then in October I added oral finasteride 1mg, topical minoxidil 5%, and a hair supplement.

In November, I switched from topical minoxidil to oral minoxidil 2.5mg again, because I read that topical minoxidil is dangerous for cats, and I have one, so I didn’t want to risk it.

The supplement I’m taking daily includes:

* Copper gluconate 0.6mg

* Zinc gluconate 45mg

* Methionine 150mg

* Leucine 20mg

* Selenium yeast

* L-Cystine 200mg

* Valine 20mg

Current routine:

- Finasteride 1mg oral daily

- Minoxidil 2.5mg oral daily

- Mesotherapy every 15 days

- The supplement listed above daily

Since restarting treatment, I’ve been experiencing a lot of shedding, which is making me anxious about whether I’m doing the right thing or if I’m already too late.

My question is: Based on the photos, is everything already lost or do I still have a chance? Most people around me are subtly telling me to just shave my head already, but I don’t want to do that without giving the treatment real time to work again, like it did the first time.

Also, is there anything else I could add to improve my results? (topicals, microneedling, ketoconazole shampoo, etc.)

Any honest opinions or recommendations would mean a lot.

Thanks.

It’s common to see shedding when restarting min or fin, known as the ‘min shed’. It can mean your treatment is working, as old hairs are making way for new growth. Keep up your routine and give it some more time, usually around 6-12 months, to see significant results. Consider adding ketoconazole shampoo for its anti-androgenic properties. Microneedling can also enhance min’s effect. Check out more on treatments here. Hang in there, you’ve still got options.

Thanks a lot for taking the time to reply.
Do you think it would be reasonable to shave my head for now, just to avoid the mental stress of seeing hair fall in the shower every day? Or would it be better to keep my current length and let the treatment do its thing before getting a haircut?
