I started taking dutasteride daily 8 months ago because I began losing hair on Fin 1.25mg but progress pictures show I’m still rapidly receding and thinning. I also use minoxidil foam and ketoconazole shampoo. I heard it said that you should give dutasteride a minimum of 1 years to assess if its working for you but I’m scared if I wait another 4 months I will lose so much more ground. Has anyone experienced anything similar with dutasteride or have any advice on what to do next?
You’d need to go to a dermatologist to assess with a tricoscopy to actually see if the hair is still thinning or if it’s just shedding. If the hair is still thinning you might need to go to higher doses of dutasteride. I recommend going to the dermatologist and asking. People go to up to 2.5mg of dutasteride. I think in some countries some crazy people even take 5mg
Apart from that check you don’t have any deficiencies on a bloodtest, like vitamin B12, zinc, vitamin D, Iron and check your thyroid as well to make sure you don’t have hypotyroidism or a similar disorder
